Bioinformatics Scientist (m/f/d)
wanted of the next possible date at the Neuropathology department at Uniklinikum Heidelberg.
Heidelberg University Hospital (UKHD) is one of the leading medical centers in Germany. The Neuropathology Department at UKHD is a global pioneer in molecular genetic diagnostics for brain tumors and is committed to developing cutting-edge methods and rapidly implementing them for patients (e.g., Patel et al., Nat Med 2025; Ritter et al., Nat Cancer 2025; Sturm et al., Nat Med 2023; Maas et al., JCO 2021).
We provide the full spectrum of neuropathological diagnostics for local and international partner institutions in neurosurgery, neurology, pediatrics, and other disciplines. A particular focus lies on developing and implementing innovative molecular diagnostic techniques and delivering cutting-edge neuropathological support for clinical trials evaluating new therapeutic approaches.
We are looking for a versatile, conscientious, and highly motivated bioinformatician at the interface of molecular genetic-based research and routine diagnostic who is driven to make a tangible impact. You will work with rich and diverse sequencing datasets and joining a growing team of bioinformaticians and data scientists with the molecular neuropathology group. This role requires a proactive, independent working style. Beyond executing and adapting bioinformatics analyses, you will actively identify gaps, improve existing workflows, and development new analysis pipelines for both research and clinical diagnostics. A strong sense of responsibility for analytical quality, reproducibility, and clinical relevance is essential.
