The Division of Molecular Neuropathology is seeking an ambitious data engineer to lead the digital transformation of brain tumor research and diagnostics. As one of the largest neuro-oncology diagnostic institutions, we house a growing SQL database containing a wealth of data from multi-omics studies, histological imaging, and clinical research. This unparalleled resource provides the foundation for advancing diagnostics through data integration and workflow optimization.
As a key member of our interdisciplinary team-including physicians, biologists, and computer scientists-you will shape the future of data-driven diagnostics. Your primary responsibility will be to enhance and expand our SQL database, improving its usability, scalability, and integration into standardized workflows. You will design, implement, and optimize a data infrastructure tailored for high-throughput, AI-assisted analysis, supporting both clinical reporting and research efforts.
Together, we aim to embed diagnostics into the care delivery process, creating iterative workflows that surpass traditional single-shot profiling. Your contributions will help integrate data science into every step of oncology care.

Your tasks
As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will:
- Enhance and expand our SQL database with novel datatypes
- Ensure consistent annotations across data types and modalities by manual curation as well as the establishment of programmatic approaches to make systematic adjustments
- Coordinate the development of interfaces and access points with external partners and software providers
- Implement automated workflows for generating clinical reports and systematic downstream analyses in specialized web applications
- Advance the digital transformation of brain tumor research and diagnostics
Your profile
- A degree in computer science, bioinformatics , or a related field. Applicantions on various entry levels are welcome
- Experience working with SQL databases , optimally including optimization and integration into complex workflows
- Familiarity with data from high-throughput molecular analyses (preferred)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured and results-oriented mindset
- A collaborative spirit and the ability to thrive in an interdisciplinary environment
- Awareness of the role's relevance for patient care
