The PhD project involves molecular and cellular experimental approaches to investigate how modulation of Ca2+ signalling in cardiac non-myocytes and immune cells (including cardiac macrophages, cardiac fibroblasts) affects cardiac function and remodelling, as well as inflammatory responses. This includes analyses of immune cell infiltration and inflammatory mediator expression in in vivo mouse models of cardiac injury and fibrosis.
Your profile
- Master’s degree in Pharmacy, Biosciences, Biotechnology or a related field
- Strong interest in independent scientific research
- Very good proficiency in English, both written and spoken
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team
- Experience in one or more of the following areas is required:
- Isolation, culture, and characterization of primary cells, FACS and histological techniques
- Fluorescence microscopy, Ca2+ imaging, or electrophysiology
- Molecular biology, biochemical techniques, and gene expression analysis
- Animal experimentation using disease models
