Briggs & Stratton is looking for a
Product Safety & Compliance Engineer
to join the team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting compliance reviews and ensuring adherence to regulations throughout product development and post-production. You will play a crucial role in monitoring rapidly changing EU regulations, such as the EU Battery Regulation, Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), and the Machinery Regulation, ensuring all products comply from the design phase to market introduction.
Your tasks will include:
Conducting compliance reviews during the design and pre-production phases to ensure products meet applicable regulations (such as the Machinery Directive, EMC, RED, and Battery Regulation).
Verifying the compliance status of existing products and maintaining detailed technical documentation (certificates, test reports, declarations, etc.).
Leading certification processes for machinery (e.g., noise certification for garden & park machines) in collaboration with testing labs.
Actively participating in industry organizations to stay up to date with the latest EU regulations and the development of standards (e.g., EGMF, RECHARGE, CEN, ISO).
Integrating compliance information into product labels, manuals, marketing materials, and technical publications.
As a Product Safety & Compliance Engineer, you recognize yourself in the following profile:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree, preferably in a technical or chemical field.
- Several years of experience in a similar role, with knowledge of EU regulations and industry standards.
- Experience in product development and implementing a compliance approach.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Living within 50 km of Herten.
- Organized, self-driven, and proactive.
- Experience with NPI (New Product Introduction) and an interest in taking a leading role in compliance processes is a plus.
- Candidates with a chemical background, focusing on compliance in sustainability, are also encouraged to apply.
