Your Role

The Analytical Specialist is responsible for evaluating flavors, seasonings, and market samples using advanced GC/MS techniques. The role includes operating and maintaining GC/MS systems, analyzing volatile and non‑volatile compounds, and delivering high‑quality analytical reports that support flavor development. Close collaboration with analytical experts and flavor creation teams is essential to drive successful project outcomes.
  • Conduct analytical evaluations of savory, flavor, and seasoning samples, ensuring correct methodology and sample preparation.
  • Operate and maintain GC/MS systems, including responsibility for a dedicated instrument setup.
  • Apply different injection techniques (liquid, SBSE, multi‑volatile headspace) to generate high‑quality analytical data.
  • Evaluate GC/MS chromatograms and mass spectra and integrate data from volatile and non‑volatile analyses.
  • Prepare comprehensive analytical reports that support flavor development and contribute to winning new projects.
  • Coordinate the analytical workflow for savory samples within a dynamic and motivated team environment.
  • Collaborate closely with flavor development teams in the Center of Excellence and regional units to ensure timely delivery of analytical insights.
  • Continuously assess and improve analytical methods and work routines.
  • Support raw material assessment and identification to facilitate precise allocation in flavor creation.
  • Ensure high analytical standards by adhering to instrument maintenance schedules and troubleshooting when necessary.

About You

  • Academic degree in Food Analysis, Food Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in GC/MS data evaluation, including chromatogram interpretation and spectral assignment.
  • Fluency in German and English (written and spoken)
  • Hands-on experience with GC/MS instrument operation and routine maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of raw materials and aroma chemistry is an advantage.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work in a motivated, collaborative environment.
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to optimize existing processes and workflows.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to present complex analytical findings clearly.
