About the Role
We’re are hiring a Platform Engineer within the Cloud & Core Infrastructure team, responsible for building and scaling the Symrise cloud platform foundation.
We are looking for a Platform Engineer that will shape with us our Kubernetes, GitOps and Cloud platform strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and scale our core Kubernetes platform with a focus on reliability, security, and cost-efficiency.
- Champion our GitOps-first philosophy by enhancing deployment workflows with Argo CD.
- Maintain and improve our CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, creating reusable workflows that make our developers' lives easier.
- Manage all aspects of our Multi-Cloud platform with a strict "everything as code" mindset to build secure, multi-tenant infrastructure.
- Own Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, including module design, versioning, and release practices.
- Proactively troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in distributed systems, from container orchestration and service discovery to platform observability and networking.
- Build and maintain internal tools and improve the overall developer experience.
- Partner with product engineering teams to champion best practices, provide guidance on platform usage, and share your knowledge through documentation and pair programming.
About You
- 3+ years of relevant infrastructure experience, ideally in a platform team.
- Practical experience with Kubernetes in a production environment. You should understand its core components, networking (Load Balancing, Ingress), and observability.
- Hands-on experience with Azure or Google Cloud and good proficiency with Terraform for managing infrastructure as code. Solid networking & security fundamentals (VPC/VNet, IAM/RBAC, load balancing, secrets, encryption basics).
- A solid understanding of GitOps principles and hands-on experience with tools like Argo CD, Flux, or similar. Experience building robust CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or a similar system.
- A strong analytical mindset for troubleshooting complex distributed systems and a passion for improving performance and reliability.
- You enjoy building reusable platform capabilities and guardrails that enable product teams; your goal is to reduce support by improving the platform.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit, with a genuine interest in enabling other engineers.
