The Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology (Leibniz-HKI) investigates the pathobiology of human-pathogenic fungi and identifies targets for the development of novel natural product-based antibiotics. The Junior Research Group RNA Biology of Fungal Infections invites talented and highly gifted candidates to apply as
Laboratory Manager/Technical Assistant (f/div/m) Host-Fungal Interactions
The position will begin as soon as possible for a period of 2 years.
Research Area:
Fungal infections represent a major medical challenge due to lack of sufficient therapeutics and increasing drug resistance. RNA-based therapeutics are an emerging class of medicines that are now used to treat cancers, genetic diseases, and even infectious diseases. In the laboratory, we try to apply these techniques to the problem of human fungal infections, by investigating novel treatment approaches using RNA-based drugs and studying the underlying regulation of RNA during fungal pathogenesis.
Candidate’s profile:
Completed training as a biology laboratory technician (f/div/m) or comparable qualification
Excellent knowledge and professional experience in the field of microbiology, molecular biology, and biochemistry
Additional training, such as a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in a related field (Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related)
Hands-on experience working in a microbiology or molecular biology laboratory
Capability to work both independently and in teams
Excellent communication skills in English
Main responsibilities:
Provide support to projects in the laboratory and contribute to experimentation
Manage stocks of reagents and consumables, including ordering of new items
Maintain microbial stocks, including working with S2 pathogens
Coordinate use of shared devices and other administrative duties
We offer:
The successful candidate will be hosted in the Junior Research Group RNA Biology of Fungal Infections , equipped with excellent technical facilities.
You will be involved in multifaceted, interdisciplinary scientific projects at the interface of microbiology and molecular biology.
An outstanding scientific environment on the Beutenberg Campus, providing state-of-the-art research facilities and a highly integrative network of life science groups.
Salary is paid according to German TV-L (salary agreement for public service employees).
