Brief overview: Kiwa Primara GmbH is an innovative testing and certification company specializing in battery testing, functional safety, environmental testing, and system validation. To strengthen our team, we are seeking a working student (m/f/d) in the field of cybersecurity to support our team in exciting projects related to batteries, inverters, and embedded systems. For this, we are looking for you:
As a student in the field of cybersecurity, you will work in our team for batteries, inverters and embedded systems and will be responsible for, among other things:
- Support in assessing and analyzing cybersecurity risks for simple home products, inverter systems, embedded/IoT devices, and similar electronics
- Participation in the definition of security requirements, threat models and attack surfaces
- Preparation of documentation, safety reports and certification preparations
- Collaboration with functional safety, electrical testing and environmental testing to ensure integrated safety and security concepts
- Opportunity to write your bachelor's or master's thesis on a relevant cybersecurity topic with us
Relevant standards & norms (that you could work with)
- ISO/IEC 27001 / 27002 – Information security management
- IEC 62443 – Cybersecurity for industrial and automation systems
- ETSI EN 303 645 – Baseline security standard for consumer IoT products
- EN 17927 (SESIP) – Methodology for the security assessment of IoT platforms
- ISO/SAE 21434 – Cybersecurity Engineering for Road Vehicles
- EN 18031-1 – Evaluation of random number generators (cryptographic security)
- EU Cyber Resilience Act (2024/2847) – Future regulatory requirements for products with digital elements
- Product safety legislation (e.g. UK PSTI Act, EU CRA) – safety requirements for connected products
- Enrolled student (Bachelor or Master) in computer science, IT security, electrical engineering or a related field
- Basic knowledge of embedded systems, microcontrollers or IoT devices
- Understanding of basic security concepts (cryptography, authentication, network protocols, secure updates)
- Strong interest in cybersecurity in resource-constrained or industrial environments
- Very good English skills (written and spoken)
- Desirable: German language skills at level B2 (or willingness to achieve this)
- Analytical thinking, curiosity and willingness to learn
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Full-time position (40 hours/week) during your studies / your thesis
- Possibility of arranging the activity as a Bachelor's or Master's thesis
- Support from experienced engineers in an interdisciplinary team
- Participation in practical, industrial cybersecurity projects
