As a member of the Scientific Services and Advocacy Group, reporting into the global Head Scientific Affairs, provide scientific and toxicology support for the Givaudan Taste and Wellbeing Division in order to ensure that products adhere to the global regulatory requirements and company’s safety standards. Support the creation of product documentation including studies and dossiers to ensure that new products are timely and efficiently registered with relevant authorities and sustain compliance.
Core Responsibilities
Product Safety Assurance
- Support safety evaluations, studies and risk assessments for food flavourings, botanical extracts and food supplements, enzymes and microorganisms
- Support safety review of new substances developed by Science and Technology prior to and during sensory evaluation
- implement of computational toxicology tools for the evaluation and registration of new flavouring materials
New Product Development
- Provide support for the product safety and regulatory aspects of new ingredient introduction and raw material maintenance
- Collect, manage, interpret and translate scientific information to support and advance global Science and Technology initiatives
Product Documentation and Registration
- Coordinate efforts in obtaining and compiling relevant data needed including toxicological studies to support registration dossiers
- Conduct literature searches and evaluations for relevant products and product families
Regulatory Policy
- Adhere to and identify potential needs for new policies that ensure consistent and compliant business practices
- Provide assistance to Givaudan’s regulatory and scientific advocacy program to support our current and future initiatives
Personal Competencies
- Self-motivated, dealing with high quantity of information, translate complex scientific information and communicate to non-experts
- deal with multiple projects in parallel and capable to prioritize
Academic Background
- University / Master’s Degree in natural science (toxicology, (food) biochemistry, chemistry or related areas)
- Preferred: Advanced PhD degree
- experience in product safety or relevant scientific area, industry experience is a plus but not a must
Technical Skills
- Fluent in English (written and oral), French is a plus
- Solid knowledge of a specific toxicology discipline and ability to manage this within a broader regulatory environment
- Working knowledge of safety assessment and ingredient registration requirements and processes
- Working knowledge of programmed systems and database management including excellent computer skills (standard office and chemistry software)

- Experience of working in a multicultural environment, preferably with a multidisciplinary approach
- Ability to work under conditions that require considerable flexibility including working and participation in meetings in other locations and remotely
- Ability to work with shifting priorities in a matrixed organization
