The Institute of Anatomy at the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel is a dynamic institute with international and interactive groups and with access to world-class facilities. The research group of Prof. Dr. Franziska Theilig and Dr. Eileen Dahlke (Cardiovascular and Renal research) is working on the development of hypertension and edema formation as a consequence of kidney diseases. Furthermore, our group has the aim to identify signaling network regulating endocytosis. The working languages are German and English. The research is done in a collaborative network with leading labs in Kiel, other labs in Germany, and abroad. Moreover, Kiel is a beautiful city located at the Baltic Sea offering excellent opportunities for cultural and outdoor activities like sailing. We are seeking outstanding and highly motivated candidates for a Research Assistant position (PhD) to support us within the Institute of Anatomy at the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel, Germany. The proposed project involves:

Impact of endocytosis proteins in cell cycle and cytokinesis and the consequences in chronic kidney diseases.

Responsibilities :
  • Cell culture, cell biology, biochemical and molecular biology methods
  • Animal experiments, physiological and morphological analysis conditional knockout mice models combined with in vitro experimental approaches
  • Histological staining and analyses
  • Microscopic analyses using confocal-, STED-, and electron microscopy
  • Teaching students in German starting in biology and histology
Hiring requirements:
  • Candidates with a Master or Diploma in Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Biochemistry, Cell or Molecular Biology or a closely related field
  • Previous experience with basic biochemical and molecular biology techniques
  • Basic understanding of mammalian cells and cell culturing and animal experiments
  • Fluency in written as well as spoken English and German
  • Experience in student teaching will be an advantage
  • Working in a state-of-the-art research facility in a collaborative, international environment

  • Interactions with global scientific leaders through our seminar programs
