Your Responsibilities
Excellent research needs state-of-the-art IT infrastructure and innovative digital services. With a team of about 50 experts, we will redesign the institute's digital landscape over the next few years and implement an ambitious digital transformation programme to facilitate the Institute’s rapid growth. As part of our strategy, we are embarking on a major modernisation of our IT infrastructure, introducing new digital services, and migrating parts of our systems to the cloud. We are therefore looking for a motivated and skilled Linux Administrator to join our IT team.
As part of our core IT infrastructure team, you will have a senior role in designing, implementing and operating our Linux-based systems. Your responsibilities include:
- Administration, maintenance, and optimisation of our Linux server and client environment
- User and Group rights management
- Monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation of Linux systems
- Planning and implementation of upgrades, patches and system enhancements
- Support in the digital transformation of the Institute, including integration with new cloud services (Entra ID, M365, hybrid solutions)
- Collaboration with IT colleagues in network, security and Windows administration
- Documentation of the system architecture, configurations, processes and procedures
- 2nd and 3rd level support for technical issues in the Linux environment
Your Profile
- Completed education in IT, ideally from a university or university of applied sciences
- Several years of professional experience as a Linux system administrator
- In-depth knowledge of Linux Server (Redhat and Debian), DNS, DHCP, Docker, IDP, or comparable collaboration tools
- Familiarity with scripting (Shell) and automation
- Knowledge of virtualisation technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) is an advantage
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, forward-looking, reliable working style
- Good communication skills and team orientation
