Über diesen Job
Intro
We're looking for a sharp, meticulous QA team member who knows Minecraft inside and out — not just how it’s played, but how it breaks. From obscure edge cases to subtle gameplay issues, you’ll be the first line of defense against bugs, inconsistencies, and regressions before they reach players. If you're someone who notices the small things others miss, isn’t afraid to ask tough questions, and can clearly communicate what’s wrong and why — you’ll feel right at home here.
This position starts as an unpaid volunteer role with the potential to develop into a paid contractor position.
Tasks
- Manually test new features, content, and updates in staging environments
- Reproduce reported issues from staff or community, and provide detailed bug reports
- Collaborate with developers and content creators to validate implementation and polish
- Write clear, structured reports on bugs, visual issues, exploits, and UX inconsistencies
- Help maintain internal QA documentation and testing checklists
- Participate in playtests to evaluate gameplay quality, progression flow, and balance
- Assist in validating performance, client/server stability, and compatibility
- Flag and follow up on regressions before public release
- Provide feedback on the player experience from a QA perspective
Requirements
- Deep and up-to-date understanding of Minecraft: Java Edition,
especially recent version changes and common mod/server-side pitfalls - A detail-oriented mindset — you're naturally inclined to test edge cases, break things, and spot inconsistencies
- Strong analytical skills to identify, isolate, and reproduce bugs or unexpected gameplay behavior
- Familiarity with structured testing methods (e.g., test plans, regression testing, exploratory testing)
- Ability to give clear, actionable feedback to developers and content creators, both verbally and in writing
- Basic understanding of Minecraft plugins, commands, and configuration systems
- Comfort working with tools like bug trackers, logs, and test environments
- Willingness to regularly playtest and explore new content before it goes live
- Professional attitude and respect for deadlines and versioning
- Strong communication skills in German (written and spoken); English proficiency is a plus
- Optional but valuable: experience in software QA, test automation, or scripting
- Expected availability of around 15–20 hours per week
Benefits
- A unique opportunity to be part of a brand-new Minecraft network from the very beginning
- The opportunity to work closely with developers to ensure a smooth, bug-free experience
- A motivated and friendly staff team that values communication, transparency, and respect
- Access to powerful internal tools and detailed training to help you succeed
- A modern infrastructure with clear escalation paths and a structured workflow
- Fully remote – work from anywhere
Closing
We’re building a diverse and inclusive team culture. Regardless of background, gender identity, or orientation — whether you’re a volunteer or paid contributor — you are welcome here. Always.
