• Due to advancing digitalization, newspapers are increasingly published online. To further develop journalism, we create data analyses, dashboards, and machine learning models. Our goal is to keep local journalism up to date so it can compete with major news outlets like Google. Data science in local journalism encompasses tasks such as personalized article recommendations, customized cancellation predictions, working with large-scale language models (LLMs), and optimizing existing work processes using machine learning. • Collaboration on extensive machine learning projects or the development of new prototypes
• Preparation of analyses, reports and recommendations for action in the areas of editorial and CRM
• Opportunity to manage your own project from analysis to implementation
• Option to write a Bachelor's or Master's thesis upon successful completion of the internship

• Studies in computer science, mathematics, statistics or a comparable course of study
• Strong numerical understanding combined with analytical thinking skills
• Experience with Python (or R) as a basis for data science development
• Ideally, initial experience with analysis tools and working with large amounts of data
• Good written and spoken German skills
