Your responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced IT Solution Architect to join our Architecture Team under the COO area of Uniper, which includes the Renewables, New Green Power and Gas, Energy Asset and Asset Transformation business functions.
This wide-ranging role involves activities such as working on infrastructure architecture projects, designing bespoke network solutions, reviewing and approving application emergency recovery plans, and creating tailored solution architecture including hosting environment, data integration and resilience for onboarding new applications, to list just some of the possible key solution architecture areas related to the role.
A solid background in embedding security principles, assessing for vulnerabilities and reviewing resiliency considerations for every aspect of your work, is key to the role, as a significant proportion of the architecture work takes place in a hybrid IT/OT environment, involving critical infrastructure.
- Design secure solutions: Develop architectures, solutions, and services tailored for IT and IT/OT environments, ensuring the protection of both operational and information systems.
- Risk and threat analysis: Proactively identify vulnerabilities and implement measures to mitigate security risks in industrial settings.
- Collaboration across teams: Work closely with IT and OT teams to seamlessly integrate requirements into operational systems, ensuring a consistent approach across both domains, and to provide guidance and support in architecture topics.
- Tool evaluation and integration: Evaluate and recommend tools and technologies that cater to the specific needs of IT/OT convergence.
- Evaluate business needs and align with IT strategy: Determine how IT can best support our business strategy, leveraging software, hardware and infrastructure.
- Regulatory and compliance adherence: Ensure that all solutions and processes comply with relevant regulations and standards, such as NIS2, particularly in the energy and utilities sector.
Your profile
Required Qualifications:
- Several years of proven hands-on experience in IT solution architecture, infrastructure engineering, and implementation, with a strong focus on OT environments.
- In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles across both IT and OT domains.
- Strong expertise in network and security technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VLAN and encryption.
- Experience with industrial control system protocols.
- A deep understanding of cloud architecture, specifically within the Azure ecosystem.
- Excellent analysis and problem solving skills.
- Strong communications and relationship skills to effectively work across teams and the ability to communicate complex technical information to all stakeholders.
- Written and verbal proficiency in German and English.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in energy or utilities infrastructure.
- Familiarity with the latest security frameworks and standards (NIST, ISO/IEC 27001).
- Experience with application hosting and architecture in an Azure cloud environment, its services, and good awareness of IaC (e.g. Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines.
