Position Summary

As an Associate Specialist in Probiotic Metabolism, you will have the opportunity to drive innovation in the biotics field, focusing specifically on probiotic research, laboratory experimentation and development that will ultimately be implemented into new Nestlé products to enhance benefits for our consumers.

In this role, you will deliver projects based on strong scientific hypotheses in alignment with business objectives and consumer needs.

A Day in the Life of an Associate Specialist in Probiotic Metabolism

• Embrace innovation as a catalyst for change: Lead science-driven and business-relevant development projects aiming at developing new biotic solutions, which a focus on probiotics. Develop expertise in the metabolism of probiotic bacteria, to support relevant R&D projects.
• Make a meaningful impact on our world: Present new results and methods to internal stakeholders with both scientific and business background to ensure alignment and support the transition from early research to later development of the products.

• Foster a culture of creativity and growth: Collaborate with cross-functional teams and experts from Nestlé Research and relevant R&D centers to ensure the success of the projects. Engage with diverse experts and thought leaders to inspire fresh thinking and drive entrepreneurial initiatives while coaching and guiding technicians, students, and apprentices.

• Stay at the forefront of science: Monitor relevant external technologies in both academia and industry, build and document knowledge about the latest methods, trends, developments and patenting opportunities in your field of expertise.

What Will Make You Successful

• Ph.D. in Microbiology, preferably with a focus on bacterial metabolism, with R&D experience in the field.
• Innovation at Heart: Experience in biotics research and/or development, preferably in the probiotic field. Knowledge in bacterial omics and their applications (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics) is a plus. Proven track record in driving innovative projects that challenge the status quo and contribute to breakthrough solutions.
• People at Core: Ability to collaborate effectively in diverse teams, fostering an environment that encourages fresh thinking and values contributions. Excellent communication skills in English (written/spoken).
• Driven by Passion, Inspired by People: Openness, flexibility, and creativity in problem-solving while cultivating strong networking and teamwork abilities, ensuring all team members are valued.
