Über diesen Job
Intro
You will develop and scale up innovative processes for upcycling plastic waste into the building blocks of next-generation polyester-based plastics. Work hands-on with gas-liquid and gas-solid processes, lead pilot and lab-scale projects, and collaborate with a cross-functional team to bring sustainable, circular solutions from concept to world-scale production.
Tasks
- Develop and scale up aevoloop’s innovative process for upcycling plastic waste streams into the building blocks for our novel polyester-based plastics, up to a 100+ kt/a world-scale process.
- Build and refine end-to-end gas-liquid / gas-solid processes, starting from the dosing of plastic waste streams, identifying the right reaction conditions, until aevoloop’s key intermediates are formed.
- Design and set up kg-lab scale batch and t-scale pilot continuous processes.
- Perform techno-economic assessments, process simulations, and mass and energy balance calculations in order to identify the ideal upcycling process.
- You will work alongside seasoned chemists and a team of technicians that you will train in the practical aspects of process engineering.
- Prepare technical reports and patent disclosures.
- Ensure SHEQ and sustainability standards are met in all laboratory, pilot and production activities, with a focus on HAZOP analysis and process safety.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related field (M.Sc.) with experience in gas-liquid processes. Ideally, you have a PhD in this field.
- A minimum of two years’ industrial experience in gas-liquid / gas-solid process development and upscaling from kg-lab to t-pilot scale.
- A solid understanding of polymer science, particularly polyolefins, including their applications, formulation, and behaviour.
- Expertise in gasification and partial oxidation processes is advantageous.
- Well-versed in HAZOP analysis, process simulation, techno-economic analysis, and mass and energy balancing.
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken); German language skills are advantageous.
- You bring a hands-on mindset, structure your work efficiently, and collaborate seamlessly across disciplines – even under the dynamics of a fast-paced start-up environment.

We are aevoloop: A fast-scaling deep-tech startup pioneering Next-Gen-Plastics. Contrary to common belief, plastics remain indispensable where no alternative exists, from critical medical devices to protective gear. That’s why we re-engineer polymers from the ground up, merging the advantages of classic plastics — high-performance and versatile — with a new era of sustainability: turning plastic waste into new materials that are fully circular and biodegradable.
Our mission is clear: Plastics are vital for a liveable future, so we develop next-generation materials that enable a truly circular economy. As we achieve new milestones and drive innovation, we continuously expand our team and expertise — giving you the chance to grow your career alongside our impact. Our work is guided by five values: Pioneering, Conscientious, Disruptive, Transparent and Contributive. These drive us to unite the rigour of responsible research with playful innovation and to act as a trusted catalyst for sustainable material solutions.
