Key responsibilities

In this position, you will perform service and project tasks according to clearly defined work instructions and in compliance with ABB standard processes, quality requirements, and safety guidelines. You will work closely with our customers and other ABB teams and act as the on-site technical contact. Your solution-oriented approach and sense of priorities contribute significantly to high customer satisfaction.

This position supports the Process Automation business unit in the Leipzig region. Your key contacts will be customers from the chemical and refinery industries, as well as internal service and project teams.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Carrying out service assignments such as installation, commissioning, maintenance, expansions, upgrades, replacements, and backup & recovery – on-site at the customer's site or remotely

• Technical analysis and troubleshooting, including the development of preventative recommendations to avoid future disruptions

• Planning, coordination, and implementation of technical service projects, including scheduling and quality control

• Preparing the necessary materials, spare parts, and tools to ensure a smooth service deployment

• Providing technical advice on suitable service solutions, taking into account ABB standards as well as safety and environmental requirements

• Building and maintaining long-term customer relationships, identifying optimization potential, and developing customized solutions

• Participation in on-call duty after structured induction and training

Qualifications for the role

• Completed studies in automation technology or a comparable field (e.g., electrical engineering, computer science, or similar)

• Ideally, initial professional experience as a service, commissioning, or planning technician in an industrial or chemical environment – career starters are also welcome

• Solid knowledge of at least one common automation platform and proficiency in MS Office applications

• Initial experience with programming languages and virtual machines is an advantage

• Willingness to travel within the Leipzig region (approximately two days per week, occasionally with overnight stays)

• Fluent German and good written and spoken English skills

• Class B driver's license
