In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. As a Data Engineer - Data Platforms, you will develop, maintain, evaluate, and test data / AI solutions. You will be involved in data engineering activities like creating pipelines/workflows for Source to Target and implementing solutions that tackle the client’s needs.
Your primary responsibilities include:
- Stand up and operate cloud data / AI platforms (e.g. Databricks, Azure ML) with policies for security, access, backup/restore.
- Implement platform automation, cost controls, and environment management (dev/test/prod).
- Integrate platform telemetry into organization-wide monitoring and dashboards.
- Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines for AI training, validation, and inference use cases.
- Automate data refresh and quality checks; implement lineage and auditability.
- Collaborate on schema evolution, partitioning, cost/performance tuning.
- Strong fundamentals Computer Science
- Several years of experience in
- SQL, Python, Spark; Databricks notebooks/jobs; Delta Lake/Parquet.
- Data quality tooling, orchestration (e.g. ADF, Airflow), and secure data access patterns.
- Databricks administration, workspaces/jobs/compute; cloud IAM; network/security basics.
- Scripting (Python/Bash), IaC (Terraform/ARM or equivalent).
- Flexible and adaptable with an aptitude for quick learning and applying new technologies
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills able to liaise effectively with different team members
- You have strong technical and analytical abilities, and a knack for driving impact and growth
- You're great at solving problems by looking at things differently, debugging, troubleshooting, and designing & implementing solutions to complex technical issues.
- You thrive on teamwork and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent verbal and written German (C1 level) and English (B2 level) language skills
