Mainz, Germany | full time | Job ID:9384As an Engineer Automation you will support the establishment, testing and implementation of automated laboratory methods on liquid handlers and complex integrated lab automation lines. Please note: This position is limitid for two years.
- Creation, optimization and implementation of automation methods, scripts and automated lab devices for clinical and commercial applications in the field of iNeST Upstream process including communication with external vendors
- Support of the installation and implementation of complex integrated lab automation lines
- Validation of the associated computer systems and defining/testing of interfaces to software systems (such as LIMS)
- Support of operation and qualification of automation systems (e.g. Hamilton / Tecan devices)
- Support for the transfer of methods and equipment into the regulated environment (GCP for labs), as well as method and process validation
- Responsibility for several automation projects within the area of iNeST process development (focus on Genomics), including planning and execution of experiments and method optimization
- Documentation of all development results, preparatory documentation for method and equipment transfer, and regular reporting of results
- Scientific degree (Master, PHD) in the field of molecular biology, biotechnology, bioprocess engineering, life sciences or a comparable field
- At least three years of professional experience in handling and optimizing automated large-scale lab instruments, especially complex liquid handling platforms, as well as experience in the creation and implementation of automated pipetting methods
- Interested in method transfer from manual to automated execution; affinity for computer-based systems and programming skills preferred
- Preferably experience in NGS and performing molecular biological work (DNA/RNA extraction, cloning, enzymatic RNA synthesis)
- Experience in GxP (GCP, GCP for labs, GMP or CLIA) environment and qualification/validation processes
- Very good knowledge of German and English
