Senior Project Manager (f/m/d)
Highly competent and skilled, the Senior Project Manager is responsible for planning and overseeing a portfolio of projects within Edmund Optics. These projects will typically involve the development of multi-element optical assemblies with a variety of design, manufacturing, and testing considerations. The Senior Project Managers develop and manage all aspects of project and program engagement as well as monitor, track, and adjust outcomes to ensure those projects or programs are proceeding as planned. They work closely with a variety of internal departments and the customer to define design and testing specifications. They lead and coordinate activities across global facilities from initiation to full production deployment. In addition, they contribute to the growth of the project management group by implementing organizational improvements and mentoring less experienced colleagues.
Essential Functions:
- Manage a portfolio of multiple assigned internal or customer-related projects that span one or multiple business lines
- Develop and manage all aspects of project and program engagement from planning, customer relationships, communications, budget, change, risks, and issues
- Full project life cycle ownership: successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to full production deployment across global facilities
- Define the statement of work, specifications, and test requirements by directly interfacing with product line management, Engineering, R&D, business line lead, or external customer
- Identify the need for agility and apply appropriate tools
- Closely works with sales to ensure commercial targets are being met
- Ensure that projects and programs are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards
- Monitor, track, and adjust outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies and critical path deliverables
- Head project meetings, internally and at the customer site, and provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues, to customers and management
- Contribute to establishing practices, templates, policies, tools, and trainings to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization
- Contribute to the coaching, mentoring, and project shadowing of new and less experienced team members
- Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations
- Company representation at fairs and at the customer
- Support of marketing activities and PR (mainly tech articles)
Qualifications:

Your profile:
- Degree in physics, optics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, process engineering or equivalent
- 10+ years previous experience or equivalent in project management
- Extensive understanding of project and program management principles, methods, and techniques
- Understanding of the sales process
- Preferably understanding of six-sigma (DMAIC) methodology
- Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence
- Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Read and understand assembly drawings, blueprints, work orders, and work instructions
- Ability and desire to work in a collaborative environment and fast-growing team
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with customers and various levels of technical staff
- Conflict resolution and negotiation
- PC skills: Excel, Word, Project & familiarity with mechanical and optical design software
- German and English business fluent, another foreign language is a plus
- Willingness to travel occasionally (in Europe and worldwide)
