Core Facility Flow Cytometry at Helmholtz Munich offers cutting-edge cell sorting and high end phenotyping services to support research within Helmholtz and beyond. We are looking for a highly motivated staff scientist (f/m/x) with deep technological expertise in advanced flow cytometry and a strong commitment to service-oriented work.
We are expanding our service by adding spectral- and imaging flow cytometry capabilities and are looking to enhance our team with a skilled expert in spectral flow cytometry. The role reports to the Head of Core Facilities. Our new team member will enjoy working with a wide range researchers in an international and multidisciplinary work environment and have a strong interest in setting up new technologies and tools.
Your tasks- Drive the implementation and adaptation of new technologies and analytical workflows
- Operate and maintain state-of-the-art equipment (three cell sorters and two highend analyzers, spatial/imaging coming in now)
- Consult users in experimental design and data interpretation
- Train users for independent equipment and software usage
- Liaise with external customers and service personnel
- Support and ensure smooth operation of the facility
- Represent the facility at external meetings and courses and interact with the national/international flow cytometry community
- PhD or Master's degree in a relevant biomedical field (immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology or similar)
- At least 3-5 years of advanced, hands-on flow cytometry experience, including independent cell sorting
- Strong technical background across a range of complex flow cytometric applications, especially high-parameter immunophenotyping and spectral flow cytometry
- Demonstrated ability in the interpretation and evaluation of cytometry data: experience with manual and automated data analysis strategies and common analysis software packages (such as FlowJo, FCS Express etc.)
- Experience in providing training and user consultation
- Highly self-motivated person with a clear service-mentality, collaborative attitude and excellent organizational and communication skills
- Excellent spoken and written German and English language skills
Desirable skills
- Previous experience working in a multi-user flow cytometry facility
If you fulfill all the requirements, you may be eligible for a salary grade of up to E 13. Social benefits are based on the Collective Wage Agreement for Public-Sector Employees (TVöD). The position has an (initial) fixed term until 15.08.2027 but may be extended under certain circumstances.
