We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Product Development Specialist to join our R&D team, with a primary focus on the formulation and development of high-performance grease products for industrial applications. This role involves working closely with client specifications to deliver tailored solutions that meet demanding technical and performance requirements.

Approximately 50% of the position will be hands-on laboratory work, including formulation development, performance testing, and the creation or refinement of test methods to ensure product reliability and consistency. The other 50% involves cross-functional coordination, ensuring that the development process aligns with customer needs, internal standards, and regulatory guidelines. This includes collaboration with production, quality, and commercial teams to transition lab-scale formulations into scalable, manufacturable products.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy

• Deliver ideas for innovative products and technologies, in line with global strategy and future trends and opportunities
• Develop strategic technical relationships with OEMs, Key Additive Suppliers, Industrial Associations and Universities to enable access to novel, leading edge additive technologies and processes
• Build knowledge concerning applications / processes and their influences on chemistries within Castrol Industrial greases including competitors' products used in similar environments

Planning

• Project manage global innovation programs with regular stakeholder reviews and updates
• Plan resources to ensure efficient delivery of projects: On time, in budget
• Provide support for longer term research programs

Implementation

• Responsible for the execution, documentation and reporting of development projects
• Support customers and the departments Sales, Marketing, Procurement and regional technology teams with expert knowledge
• Advise on experimental design and other techniques

Monitoring

• Provide good quality documentation of results and share with the greater Technology Community
• Monitor project progress against proposed plans and milestones
• Monitor project resources, budget and external spend
• Adhere to HSSE and QM standards

Organization

• Responsible for the representation of projects outside of own department, e. g. Sales, Marketing, Procurement and Regional Teams

Requirements:

Essential Education

• Degree or higher in Chemistry, or another relevant subject

Essential Experience and Job Requirements

• Experience in formulating products, preferably grease formulations and applications, as well as grease test methods.
• Relevant experience in the Lubricant Industry

Desirable Criteria & Qualifications

• Ability to solve problems independently and identify solutions
• Ability to learn quickly

German: At least B2 level, English: good to excellent oral and written skills
