Chemist / Expert Cleaning Processes (m/f/d)
To enable high-resolution (spectroscopic) imaging of the Earth from distances of up to 36,000 km, strict cleanliness standards in design, material selection, and manufacturing processes are essential. As cleaning highly sensitive components af- ter assembly – whether on Earth or in space - is difficult or even impossible, cleanliness must be continuously monitored from supplier production to rocket in- tegration. OHB’s cleanliness verification laboratory takes on these tasks for internal projects, cleanrooms, and suppliers. Operated by the Cleanliness division within the Materi- als, Processes and Cleanliness department, the verification lab focuses on cleanliness-related challenges. It uses established and newly developed methods to assess particle and chemical contamination, and conducts tests to ensure pro- cess reliability, including material compatibility, cleaning efficiency, and cleanliness validation.
Your Tasks
- Verify system cleanliness requirements with respect to particulate and molecular contamination
- Manage the chemical analytics laboratory, including operation and maintenance of standard equipment (e.g. FTIR spectroscopy, optical microscopy)
- Conduct measurement tasks and prepare technical presentations and reports
- Develop, document, and maintain measurement procedures, and refine measurement methods
- Develop, validate and document cleaning processes, incl. material compatibility
- Build up and coordinate a network of internal and external service provider for parts cleaning
- Manage interface between cleanliness requirements, cleaning processes and manufacturing processes, incl. respective departments
- Drive knowledge management through generation, documentation, and transfer of expertise
Your Qualifications
- PhD/Master in Chemistry, Physics, Technical Chemistry or comparable expertise
- Expertise in chemical analytics
- Expertise in materials and processes
- At least 3+ years of experience working independently in an analytical laboratory
- Proficient in FTIR spectroscopy, optical microscopy, and particle measurement techniques
- Very precise and structured working style
- Independent and goal-oriented way of working
- Interdisciplinary mindset, strong communication skills
- Fluent German and English skills
