Electro-Functional Systems Engineer Instrument (m/f/d)
Your Tasks
- Coordinate and lead engineering teams composed of engineers from multiple technical disciplines such as
- Instrument Software, FDIR and Operational, Control Engineering, Focal Plane and Detector, Electronics,
- Electrical Interfaces and Harness, EMC, AIT
- Support the definition of Instrument requirements related to Electro-Functional technical disciplines and evaluate the compliance of design solutions
- Conduct technical trade studies
- Develop and refine the Instrument Electrical Design and Concept of Operation, based on customer requirements and company heritage
- Maintain Instrument Documentation (e.g. Software Systems Specification , Design Description, ICD, VCD, Flight
- Operational Manual and Flight Procedures, …)
- Identify potential risks in the design and implement mitigation strategies
- Define and maintain Electro-Functional budgets incl. margins (e.g. Power Consumption and Dissipation, Data, Timing, Accuracy, EMC, …)
- Support the allocation and flow-down of lower-level subsystem requirements and budgets, ensuring they are updated throughout the program. Challenge lower-level Design and Compliances
- Define and be responsible for Electro and Functional verification activities (Test Bench, Test Specifications, Test
- Monitoring and Execution, Test Report … ). Contribute to TRRs, PTR and TRBs
- Represent Instrument Engineering during the different Design Reviews, Progress Reports in front of Supplier and Customer chain
- Support the evaluation and management of deviations and non-conformances. Assist in implementing agreed changes to designs and deliverables
Your Qualifications
- University/polytechnic degree or PhD in Physics or Engineering, ideally in Systems Engineering with a focus on one or more Electro-Functional disciplines
- Professional experience in design, development, and verification activities for space projects, preferably in payload projects within the Electro-Functional area
- Good understanding of Instrument Systems Architecture and Instrument Operations
- Good understanding in Instrument Integration and Test activities
- Organized and structured approach to tasks with a high degree of motivation
- Willingness to engage in system- and unit-level verification activities
- Strong focus on achieving progress through solution-oriented thinking, with the ability to meet goals under schedule pressure
- Strong communication skills, combined with the ability to work effectively in international and multidisciplinary teams
- Experience in leading Engineering Team, or Suppliers
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken; German language skills are a plus
