Your tasks
As a Generative AI Engineer (m/f/x), you work at the intersection of AI research and software development. You apply your expertise in generative AI, large language models (LLMs), deep learning, and agent systems to develop innovative AI applications. Your passion lies in translating advances in AI into practical solutions that drive innovation across diverse industries. In appliedAI's AI Engineering team, you collaborate with AI experts, AI strategists, and external partners to create impactful prototypes and production-ready AI solutions that deliver real added value.
- Strategic use of generative AI and multi-agent systems to solve complex business challenges and accelerate AI adoption across various industries.
- Responsibility for the design and implementation of RAG solutions, agent-based workflows and multi-agent systems tailored to specific customer needs.
- Adherence to the highest technical standards and active participation in joint technology development within appliedAI and the entire appliedAI partner ecosystem
- Bridging the gap between AI research and software development to ensure a robust, scalable and efficient design of AI systems.
- Leading role in the use of the latest AI technologies, such as the implementation and optimization of LLMs, to offer customers sustainable added value.
Your profile
- Solid knowledge of machine learning, deep learning and generative AI technologies, as well as a strong academic background in data science, machine learning, mathematics, physics or a comparable field.
- At least 2 years of experience in a comparable technical role, in software development or a related field, with very good knowledge of Python and GenAI-specific frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, Azure AI Foundry, Computer Use or similar.
- Very good understanding of transformer architectures, embedding models and prompt engineering techniques such as Chain of Thoughts, as well as initial practical experience with AI agent frameworks.
- Experience with DevOps and MLOps practices, including containerization, CI/CD and automation of LLM deployments and optimization techniques, as well as experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS or GCP
- Strong problem-solving, analytical and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team and with external partners.
- Enthusiasm for continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration in high-performing teams
- Experience and project experience with Vision Language Models (VLM) and Open-Source SLMs are advantageous.
- Excellent German and English skills are required.
Your benefits
A highly qualified and motivated team of around 90 people is on an exciting journey to shape the rapidly evolving European AI landscape.
- Experience the best of both worlds with our hybrid working model: You can choose whether you want to work in our inspiring office at the IPAI in Heilbronn or in the House of Communication in Munich – and you also have the option of working remotely on a few days a week.
- Shape the future with us: Work on a variety of innovative projects and develop new, original content based on the latest advances in AI and its application in business.
- Freedom for creative ideas: An open atmosphere that encourages thinking about software, hardware and processes in new and experimental ways.
- The trending topics of the next decade: Maintain the freedom and confidence to pursue your own initiatives.
- A strong network: Become part of a highly visible initiative and make valuable contacts with start-ups, partners and tech companies.
- Stay active: Thanks to our Wellpass membership, you have access to thousands of sports facilities throughout Germany (and beyond).
- JobRad leasing option: Take advantage of the opportunity to lease your own company bike.
- Sabbatical opportunity: After three years of service, you can take a break of up to three months – because sometimes 30 vacation days are not enough to discover the beauty of this world.
