Laboratory Research Internship
11.02.2026, Studentische Hilfskräfte, Praktikantenstellen, Studienarbeiten
The research group of Prof. Dr. Gronnier, Plant Cell Biology at the TUM Weihenstephan campus, investigates cell biological aspects of plant immunity, development, and evolution. The group employs multidisciplinary ap-proaches, including genetics, biochemistry, live-cell imaging, and high-resolution microscopy, to decipher fun-damental aspects of cellular signal transduction, with a particular focus on the spatial and temporal regulation of membrane-based molecular processes.
We are currently seeking students for our laboratory research internship.
Participants in this module will actively engage in an ongoing research project, gaining direct insight into the pro-cess of scientific discovery. They will acquire hands-on experience with experimental work, learning to plan, conduct, and troubleshoot laboratory procedures. A central focus will be the introduction to, and practical applica-tion of, modern methods in Plant Cell Biology, enabling students to become familiar with state-of-the-art experi-mental approaches.
Students will be guided in designing and performing their own experiments, moving from the formulation of a re-search question to the execution of targeted investigations. Emphasis will be placed on the critical interpretation of research data, including the evaluation of experimental outcomes and their relevance within a broader biologi-cal context.
In addition, participants will practice rigorous documentation of both experimental procedures and datasets, fol-lowing FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) principles to ensure scientific transparency and reproducibility. They will develop the ability to formulate sound scientific rationales and hypotheses as the founda-tion for experimental inquiry. Finally, students will train in scientific presentation, learning how to communicate their findings clearly and effectively in both oral and written formats.
There is also the possibility to pursue a Master’s thesis at the chair.
Your profile:
- Enrollment as a Master’s student in Agricultural Biosciences
- Good command of English
- Basic laboratory skills (pipetting, solution preparation)
- Familiarity with protein biology, molecular biology and cell biology concepts
