MathWorks is seeking an application engineer to partner with Europe's leading influential commercial vehicle manufacturers.
In this customer‑facing role, you will act as a trusted technical advisor and visionary, guiding these industry leaders as they adopt and scale Model‑Based Design, simulation-driven development, and advanced analytics using MATLAB® and Simulink®. Your expertise will shape next‑generation powertrain, ADAS/AD systems, electric and hydrogen vehicle development, and connected vehicle engineering.

Verantwortlichkeiten
As an application engineer focusing on commercial vehicles, you will:
Guide Adoption and Support the Growth of MATLAB & Simulink
- Lead and support implementation of best practices in Model‑Based Design, system simulation, embedded controls development, and verification/validation workflows.
- Support customers in modernizing and scaling development processes, including model architectures, large‑scale simulation, and integration into enterprise toolchains.
- Drive successful deployment and adoption of MathWorks technologies across departments and programs.
Build High-Impact Technical Partnerships
- Develop long‑term technical relationships across engineering, R&D, simulation, validation, and software development teams.
- Understand customer workflows, technical strategies, and business priorities—from electrification to autonomous driving.
- Identify strategic opportunities where MathWorks solutions can accelerate innovation and engineering efficiency.
Influence Product Direction
- Collaborate with MathWorks development teams to represent commercial customer needs and industry trends—including functional safety (ISO 26262), AUTOSAR workflows, vehicle energy management, service-oriented architecture, and fleet connectivity.
- Participate in roadmap discussions and advocate for new product capabilities that support the commercial vehicle domain.
Lead Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely across Application Engineering, Consulting, Training, Sales and Marketing to execute cohesive account strategies.
- Coordinate, engage and deliver technical engagements, workshops, and executive‑level technical sessions.
- Ensure alignment and support for key customer programs over the entire product lifecycle.
Mindestqualifikationen
- A bachelor's degree and 10 years of professional work experience (or equivalent experience) is required.
- Candidates for this position must be authorized to work in Germany.
- Candidates must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time
- Demonstrated experience in/with Automotive
Zusätzliche Qualifikationen
- Strong experience in automotive or commercial vehicle engineering—such as embedded controls, powertrain development, electrification, ADAS/AD, system modeling, or simulation.
- Deep proficiency with MATLAB & Simulink, or strong background in comparable tools & model-based workflows.
- Ability to engage with engineering leadership, understand complex technical challenges, and communicate solutions effectively.
- Passion for customer success and long-term technical partnership building.
- Experience working with large OEMs or Tier‑1 suppliers is a plus.
