Senior Postgres Database Administrator

The role is as a DBA (Database administrator) role.

The role is located in the north of Munich (on site as no remote working is possible).

German, British, Spanish or Italian nationality is required.

Tasks:

• Database Administration (Postgres):

Installation and upgrades, Monitoring, Troubleshooting, General database administration (space management, user management, log file checking), Patching, Backup and recovery, Performance tuning, Service request management, Documentation.

• LINUX / UNIX Tasks, Usage of LINUX / UNIX to perform the other tasks in this role.
• Patching and management of Java based applications to provided instructions.
• Management and troubleshooting of the Java based applications using provided instructions.
• Scheduling of application tasks using a provided scheduler tool.
• Working with ticket system for incidents, problems, change management and configuration management

Requirements/Knowledge/Experience:

• Strong background working in IT environments
• Any knowledge of ITIL would be useful.
• Proven experience as a PostgreSQL Database Administrator.
• Excellent Unix/Linux knowledge.
• Strong knowledge of database design, performance tuning, and optimization.
• Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• General skills such as writing of documentation.
• IT related Bachelor or Master's degree is a plus
• The candidate should also be able to speak and write in English.
• Security check (Ü2) available or willing to go through the process to acquire it.
• Willingness to learn and acquire new skills (including acquiring relevant certifications)

Willingness to work in a rotation system (to cover the service hours) and to work outside working hours (usually one Saturday per month)
