We are seeking a motivated Aerospace Engineering student to assist in building and refining structural analysis workflows using Digital Engineering and MBSE to boost reproducibility, data management, and traceability for aircraft and production systems. Link requirements to architectures and analyses with a focus on safety, evaluate MBSE practices, and explore new methods to harmonize systems, structures, and manufacturing approaches.
Position Responsibilities:
Development of structural analysis processes using a Digital Engineering approach for aerospace applications
Exploration of innovative techniques in structural analysis to enhance re-execution, data management, and traceability
Development of MBSE Architectures for Airplane Systems and Production Systems
Requirements capture tracing to Architecture, Design Decisions and Analyses; with a focus on Safety and Development Assurance matters
Evaluation of MBSE methods, documenting feedback and deviations to the methods applied
Exploration of novel MBSE techniques to enable a harmonized MBSE approach for different disciplines like Systems, Structures or Production Systems
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering
Solid understanding of structural analysis principles in aerospace
Solid understanding of Systems Engineering principles
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and in a collaborative, multidisciplinary and international environment
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Finite Element Analysis of aerospace structures
Knowledge of Boeing internal processes and tools for structural analysis (Abaqus, Nastran, 3DX-Simulia apps, CAD Design) will be valued
Experience in developing python/java scripts, as well as Excel Macros is highly valued
Experience with PLM systems like 3DX will be appreciated
Systems Engineering processes, Systems thinking
Model-Based Systems Engineering, SysML, Cameo/MagicDraw
Safety and Development Assurance processes (ARP4754, ARP4761)
Critical thinking, creativity and engineering judgement to propose new approaches
Core Knowledge: Aerospace Engineering, Structural Engineering, Structural Design, Systems Engineering
Knowledge of Boeing internal processes and tools will be valued
