// DevOps Engineer Web Portals (f/m/d)
in the Department of Portals and Web Applications Funding Business in Münster
As part of its mandate, NRW.BANK is developing and operating a landscape of customer portals for digital application processing and communication with its customers and partners. Within this framework, we are seeking support in the provision and operation of the portal applications and the tools required for their development.
We need your skills for the following areas:
Deployment and operation (DevOps) of banking applications and development tools
  • Responsibility for the stable operation and needs-based configuration of SUSE Linux Enterprise Servers as well as the administration and maintenance of web server environments (including Tomcat) and MySQL database systems
  • Development and maintenance of various automation tools and scripts based on Bash, Java and Python
  • Development, configuration and operation of CI/CD pipelines based on GitLab and Jenkins
  • Development and operation of container-based processes and solutions using Podman
  • Provision and maintenance of various IT tools necessary for the operation and development of the portals (Jenkins, Nexus Repository & Firewall, Sonartype, Dependency Track, etc.)
  • Ensuring compliance with legal and internal requirements (e.g. DORA, GDPR) in the operation of the applications and tools for which we are responsible
  • Participation in vulnerability and patch management processes to maintain robust and secure system operations
Optional: Participation in the development of the NRW.BANK portal landscape (full stack)
The activity may optionally include participation in the development of the portal applications:
  • Collaboration in the technical conception of new requirements for the portal landscape
  • Technical implementation of user stories in the backend (Java, Spring) or frontend (TypeScript, web components) in a microservice environment using the Domain Driven Design methodology.
  • Collaboration in agile software development teams
Optional: Participation in the department’s information security team
The activity may optionally include participation in the information security team (first line):
  • Analysis and implementation of new security requirements for processes and applications through legal requirements and the bank's written regulations
  • Analysis and evaluation
  • Assessment and analysis of threats posed by new requirements and changes to the NRW.BANK portal landscape
  • Review and penetration testing of technical implementations
  • Identification and analysis of vulnerabilities in the software components and products used
This is what sets you apart:
  • Completed studies in (business) informatics, economics, mathematics, natural sciences or a comparable degree or alternatively technical training (IT specialist for system integration) with several years of relevant experience in operating web applications.
  • Extensive experience in administering Linux systems (SLES), combined with in-depth knowledge of deploying, operating, and automating server infrastructures and IT applications (Bash, Python).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of modern network architectures and protocols
  • Comprehensive knowledge in the field of software engineering – preferably with a focus on CI/CD processes (Jenkins, Git, GitLab, Nexus).
  • A strong interest in technical issues and the ability to communicate complex issues clearly.
  • Very good teamwork skills and strong persuasive skills.
  • Systematic and careful approach as well as good comprehension and strong analytical thinking.
  • Independence, initiative and flexibility.
  • Professional experience in the financial sector, ideally in the development sector, is desirable.
  • Experience in applying agile process models (especially Scrum & Kanban)
  • Confident use of common software applications for document processing (MS Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and collaboration tools such as MS Teams, Confluence, Jira, Conceptboard, etc.
  • Good written and spoken English skills, very good German skills (at least C1 European Framework of Reference for Languages)
