You will become part of a newly formed, interdisciplinary team in the area of ​​Supporting Systems. Your task: together with our actuaries, you will develop a Python framework (the so-called reference calculator ) for quality assurance of actuarial calculations .

Background information:

When we acquire insurance companies and their policy portfolios, numerous life insurance tariffs must be transferred to our IT systems . For this, our actuaries convert hundreds to thousands of mathematical formulas and tables from documents that are sometimes decades old into code and databases – as the basis for the subsequent automated migration of the contract data .

This process is subject to the highest quality requirements : for each individual contract, it must be ensured that the rights of the insured are fully preserved even after the portfolio transfer.

Therefore, we perform the modeling redundantly – in two independent systems . One team develops the production inventory management system with its associated computing engine, while the other models the tariffs in a reference computer programmed in Python . Up to one hundred thousand test cases run there daily, and their results are automatically compared with the production system – ensuring that even the smallest deviations are reliably detected.

Beyond tariff migration, the reference computer is also used in day-to-day operations when parameters of the calculation engine need to be adjusted, as well as for calculating and mathematically processing complex customer requests.

As a Senior Software Engineer* in the "Reference Computer" team, you will be responsible for the entire architecture of the reference computer – at both the application and deployment levels. You will also play a key role in shaping the technical infrastructure of the development environment and ensuring an optimal developer experience.

You will work closely with the actuaries who implement the technical content in Python. Your role will be to contribute your software engineering expertise, identify and solve technical challenges, and make sound decisions together with the team.

• Further training for actuaries in the effective use of Python
• Consulting and technical support for specialist users of the reference computer

This is what we expect from you

• Several years of experience in developing and implementing applications in Python
• Solid experience with:
  
• agile software development
• Cloud infrastructure and application deployment in the cloud
• Preparation and execution of developer tests
• Modern DevOps practices , especially automated software testing and continuous integration/continuous deployment.
• Excellent German skills, both spoken and written ( C2 )
