UI/UX Designer
Über diesen Job
We’re looking for a UI/UX Designer to join our team as we move into full production on our debut game Ardem, an open world survival game developed in Unreal Engine 5.
This is a hybrid role, combining UX design, UI design, and in-engine implementation. You will work closely with game design to shape intuitive user experiences, while also designing and implementing clean, functional, and modern interfaces directly in Unreal Engine. The role requires a strong understanding of usability, clarity, and interaction design, paired with hands-on technical implementation.
Techtive Games is an ambitious indie studio based in Germany with a close knit team that focuses on building deep, interconnected gameplay systems and immersive, authentic worlds. We value creativity, ownership, and personal growth. Rather than working through rigid ticket pipelines, our team members are encouraged to actively shape features, collaborate closely across disciplines, and grow together not only on Ardem, but on future projects as well.
If you enjoy designing clear and intuitive user experiences, care about how UI supports gameplay, and want to see your designs directly implemented and used in game, we’d love to hear from you.
Tasks
On a day to day basis, you will:
- Design and iterate on UX flows, wireframes, and interaction concepts based on game design requirements
- Create clean, functional UI designs with a strong focus on layout, hierarchy, readability, and usability
- Design and maintain UI for a wide range of systems, including HUD elements, inventories, crafting menus, settings screens, and interaction interfaces
- Work closely with Gameplay Engineers to integrate UI with underlying game systems and data
- Collaborate with Game Design, the Design Lead, and feature owners to ensure UI supports gameplay goals
- Iterate on UI based on playtesting, feedback, and evolving game mechanics
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience as a UI-UX Designer, preferably within game development
- Strong experience designing both UX and UI, with an understanding of how they work together
- Proven ability to create wireframes, user flows, and interaction concepts
- Experience designing flat, functional, and modern game interfaces
- Solid experience working with Unreal Engine UI, including UMG and Widgets
- Strong sense for usability, clarity, and player focused design
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely across disciplines
- Fluent spoken and written English
Bonus Skills
- Experience working on game UI for open world games
- Experience designing complex systems such as inventories or crafting interfaces
- Awareness of accessibility and readability best practices
- Ability to implement UI directly in engine
- Experience with console UI considerations
- Experience working in an indie or small team environment
Working Model
- Fully remote
- Freelance, with a full time option for candidates based in Germany
- Flexible working hours with a strong focus on ownership and trust
- Direct collaboration within a small, focused team
Benefits
