Your training in Oldenburg, Rastede, or Hude will last three and a half years. During this time, you can expect to perform the following tasks:

• You will operate machines and plant systems
• You will process metals and plastics
• You will carefully document the work you have carried out
• You will build and program control systems for electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
• You will take care of the maintenance and servicing of machines, systems, and plants

During your four-year apprenticeship as a mechatronics engineer, you will learn many exciting things and gain experience in different areas of focus. If you have decided to retrain as a mechatronics engineer, the duration of your apprenticeship will be shortened and individually tailored to your needs.

1st year of training

In the first year of training, you will be trained in your so-called home department. At BÜFA, we believe in learning by doing. You will do "real work” right from the start and be given more and more responsibility over time. However, working independently at BÜFA does not mean that you have to do your tasks all by yourself. On the contrary, if you have any questions, you can always turn to your colleagues. By the way – as a mechatronics engineer at BÜFA, you will only be working with real machines!

2nd and 3rd year of training

In order to gain an insight into activities with different focuses, you will move to another BÜFA department and also to external companies.

4th year of training

You will return to your home department so that you can concentrate fully on your exams.

Vocational school lessons are taught in blocks at BBS Varel . Internships and inter-company lessons will help you prepare for final exams I and II.

The training program requires a good secondary school diploma, including good grades in mathematics, physics, and technology. You should also be interested in technology and electronics and have the following soft skills:

• Ability to work in a team
• Commitment and sense of responsibility
• Goal orientation

Those who complete their final exam with a grade of 2.5 or higher usually receive a contract for at least 12 months after completing their training. However, all trainees can apply for internal job vacancies even before this.
