About us
The School VI of Medicine and Health Sciences comprises the fields of human medicine, medical physics and acoustics, neurosciences, psychology and health services research. Together with the four regional hospitals, School VI forms the University Medicine Oldenburg. Furthermore, the university cooperates closely with the University Medicine of the University of Groningen.
This position is based in the Translational Psychology Group, a Heisenberg Professorship funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and led by Dr. Martin Bleichner. Our interdisciplinary team is dedicated to bringing neuroscientific methods into real-world contexts to better understand cognition and behavior in everyday life.
Your tasks
- Development and refinement of methods for mobile (ear-) EEG recordings in naturalistic settings, with a focus on usability and data quality
- Design and execution of neuropsychological experiments in both real-life and controlled laboratory environments
- Publication of research findings in peer-reviewed, English-language journals and presentation at international conferences
Your profile
Required qualifications :
- Completed scientific university degree (Diploma (Uni)/Master) in (Neuro-)Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related field
- Practical experience with mobile EEG or ear-EEG data acquisition, preferably in naturalistic settings
- Proficiency in Python or MATLAB for signal processing and data analysis (e.g. EEG, audio)
- Familiarity with scientific programming environments (e.g., MNE, EEGLAB, LSL)
- Knowledge in machine learning techniques and their application in neurocognitive research
- Strong interest in user-centered and applied neurotechnological methods (e.g. BCI, HCI, usability testing)
- Motivation for interdisciplinary and translational research bridging neuroscience, psychology, and technology
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in English
