About us
The School VI of Medicine and Health Sciences comprises the fields of human medicine, medical physics and acoustics, neurosciences, psychology and health services research. Together with the four regional hospitals, School VI forms the University Medicine Oldenburg. Furthermore, the university cooperates closely with the University Medicine of the University of Groningen.
The Core Facility (CF) Genomics & Bioinformatics is a scientific infrastructure of Faculty VI with a strong focus on service. The institution supports multiple research projects by providing reliable data collected in a timely manner. In addition, the Core Facility Genomics & Bioinformatics supports its users in project planning and in the analysis of large-scale genomic data. The Core Facility already operates modern high-throughput genome sequencing devices, which are to be adapted in line with technological developments and scientific progress, ensuring that an attractive portfolio of instruments and methods in the field of high-throughput sequencing and data analysis will continue to be available in the future.
Your tasks
- Establishment of new methods and applications (e.g. Single Cell Sequencing, Spatial Transcriptomics, direct RNA-Sequencing and Epigenetics) according to the needs of the users
- Provide support to the CFGB users on research project planning and implementation
- Contribution to the management of the Core Facility Genomics & Bioinformatics routine tasks
- Participation in joint research projects and in the preparation of proposals
Your profile
Required qualifications :
- Relevant completed academic university degree (e.g. Diploma (University) / Master’s degree) in Biology or a comparable field
- Completed Doctorate in the Natural Sciences is desirable
- Experience in performing high-throughput sequencing and single cell sequencing
- Several years of experience working in a molecular biology laboratory (including method establishment, desirable)
- Strong communication skills in English (spoken and written)
Preferred qualifications :
- Bioinformatics expertise in secondary and tertiary sequencing data analysis
- Experience with "3rd generation” sequencing technologies
- Experience in writing scientific publications and grant applications is desirable
