Über diesen Job
About us
ICBM is an interdisciplinary research institute for fundamental and applied marine research. The internationally renowned institute aims at understanding the functioning of marine environmental systems through close cooperation of the various scientific disciplines (chemistry, biology, physics, mathematical modelling) of its more than 20 research groups. Together with the Helmholtz-Institute for Functional Marine Biodiversity (HIFMB), ICBM represents the Oldenburg branch of a joint Cluster of Excellence with the University of Bremen. The position is located in Oldenburg and is supervised by Prof. Helmut Hillebrand. Regular interactions with the ICBM Head Office and the University Bremen are foreseen, which partly require travel between Oldenburg and Bremen.
Your tasks
The Scientific Coordinator is supposed to self-reliantly organize the interactions between project partners, support personnel recruitment and financial administration, and provides a liaison for the university leadership (in both Oldenburg and Bremen) as well as other excellence clusters in the region. Additionally, the successful applicant will plan, prepare and administer workshops, symposia and jour fixes of the cluster. Moreover, the position holder will coordinate the reporting of the entire cluster and write the non-scientific parts of the reports.
These objectives require openness to work in a strongly interdisciplinary, international and cross-functional context. We are looking for an internationally experienced coordinator with knowledge of science management, networking, cooperation and capacity development.
Your profile
Required skills and experience:
- University degree (diploma (not diploma of an University of Applied Science) or master) in sustainability, geological, marine or environmental sciences or a related field in the social sciences, preferably with an interdisciplinary background,
- Experience in successfully coordinating, implementing, monitoring and evaluating scientific networks or collaborative research initiatives
- Demonstrated planning, organizational, analytical and administrative skills, including prior experience in organizing meetings, trainings and/or workshops
- Excellent proficiency in English, both spoken and in writing
Experience in communicating research to scientific and non-scientific audiences (verbal and written, through presentations at conferences and to stakeholders, other forms of stakeholder engagement)
We offer
We offer a stimulating scientific environment in an internationally connected, open, and friendly working environment. We will provide mentoring and support to establish or further development science management skills, both through support within the institute and through several schemes that are available at the University of Oldenburg.
