Mission Brief
Isar Aerospace is entering an exciting new growth phase, advancing to the delivery of commercial launch services for institutional, governmental, and commercial customers worldwide. We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Director Communications to lead all internal and external communications, supporting our business objectives and further elevating our presence in the European and international space sector. Leading a compact, high-performing team, you will work closely with the Executive Leadership Team to drive targeted, impactful communications with agility and precision.
Your Role in Our Space Mission :
Strategic Communications & Messaging
- Develop and propose a compelling overarching company narrative and positioning, deeply rooted in the company’s Mission, Vision, and Strategy, to guide all communications activities.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with company priorities, supporting customer acquisition, key partnerships, and funding initiatives.
- Design and execute milestone communication around launches, achievements, and strategic developments.
- Monitor public perception and industry trends to continuously refine messaging and strategy.
- Collaborate closely with Government Relations, Sales, and Executive Leadership to ensure message alignment and maximize impact.
Internal Communications & Culture
- Design, implement, and manage company-wide internal communications formats (such as townhalls, newsletters, and leadership updates) to ensure all employees are aligned on strategy, milestones, and company objectives.
- Foster a culture of transparency, engagement, and alignment across all levels of the organization through clear and consistent internal messaging.
External Representation & Thought Leadership
- Serve as an external spokesperson, representing Isar Aerospace with media, stakeholders, and at industry events.
- Position members of the Executive Leadership Team as thought leaders in relevant forums and media engagements.
- Build and nurture relationships with key media, industry, and government stakeholders.
Risk & Reputation Management
- Proactively anticipate possible risk scenarios and oversee crisis and reputation management, ensuring effective risk mitigation.
Team Leadership
- Lead, develop, and empower a compact communications team, fostering an agile and collaborative environment.
Qualification Checklist
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
- 10+ years of international experience in communications (internal + external), public relations, or corporate affairs; experience in space, aerospace, defense-tech, or high-tech sectors is a plus.
- Exceptional storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex technical achievements and strategies into engaging, accessible narratives for diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to drive business goals through strategic communications, including support for government engagement and fundraising.
- Significant experience in internal communications, including developing and managing formats that ensure company-wide alignment and engagement.
- Confident and effective external spokesperson, comfortable representing the company at senior levels.
- Proven experience positioning executives in international forums and media.
- Strong network within relevant media, industry, and government circles.
- Experience leading and developing a small, high-performing team.
- High integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German; other languages are an advantage.
