GFZ is Germany's national centre for solid Earth research. Student Assistant (f_m_x) Interface Geochemistry

We are searching for a student assistant (HiWi) in the Interface Geochemistry group. She/he/they will primarily work on projects related to field sample processing and laboratory experiments using microbial cultures. A HIWI may - if interested -also have the opportunity to potentially carry out internships or a master's thesis project in our group.
Your responsibilities:
- Experimental laboratory work related to projects using microbial cultures isolated from arctic environments
- Support for environmental sample processing such as nucleic acid and organic matter extractions
- General lab maintenance and cleaning
Your qualifications:
- lnterest in microbiology, biogeochemistry, and/or environmental science
- Basic lab experience in biological techniques (including sterile technique for the maintenance of microbial cultures)
- Course of study in and/ or BSc in Microbiology, Environmental Sciences or related fields
- Enrolment at a German university
- Good command of the English language

Working hours: flexible working hours, 40 hours per month
