The Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy is a pioneer and a driver of bioeconomy research. We create the scientific foundation to transform agricultural, food, industrial and energy systems into a comprehensive bio-based circular economy. We develop and integrate techniques, processes and management strategies, effectively converging technologies to intelligently crosslink highly diverse bioeconomic production systems and to control them in a knowledge-based, adaptive and largely automated manner. For the project "Knowledge-based precision crop production in a mixed farm (DigiMix-PA)", we are looking for the following person to assist during field and laboratory work as soon as possible

Student Assistant (m/f/d) (10-20 h per week)

The objective of the joint project is to test, research and demonstrate a continuously digitized production chain for site-specific precision crop production on a mixed farm in Brandenburg. The position to be filled includes assistance of the technical and scientific works in the sub-projects, especially regarding soil greenhouse gas emissions.

Your responsibilities

• Participation in a field experiment where liquid manure and mineral fertilizers are applied
• Taking gas, soil and plant samples in the field and analyzing them in the laboratory
• Soil sieving, weighing and chemical extraction
• Data entry and evaluation
• Literature research

Your qualifications

• Enrolment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme in environmental or natural sciences or equivalent
• Knowledge of plant production, field trials and the nitrogen cycle
• Interest in interdisciplinary cooperation at the interface of agronomy, precision farming and assessment of greenhouse gas emissions
• Willingness to work in the field and laboratory, ability to work in a team, reliability, personal commitment and ability to work independently
• Very good knowledge of English, knowledge of German is an advantage
• EU driving license class B is an advantage

The position is for 10-20 hours/week and limited until November 30, 2025 with the possibility of extension.

The salary is depending on your degree (13,98 Euros without / 14,59 Euros with Bachelor’s degree).
