Mechanical Engineer (m/f/d) - Composite & Sheet Metal Design (Nacelle & Spinner)
Join us in shaping the mechanical core of modern wind turbines. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing components of wind turbines – especially the nacelle and spinner structures. These components, often made of glass fiber-reinforced plastics (GRP) or sheet metal, protect the drivetrain and electrical components of the turbine.
In this role, you’ll be part of an international team focused on driving design excellence, quality, manufacturability, and supplier collaboration. While we already have engineering capacity in other locations, this position in Rostock specifically strengthens our connection between design and production, ensuring the highest quality standards for wind turbine system integration.
YOUR TASKS:
- Mechanical design of nacelle and hub components – from concept to detailed 3D models using Siemens NX
- Generation of 2D drawings according to ISO standards
- Preparation of relevant technical documentation for internal and external use
- Support during supplier homologation processes, including manufacturing feasibility reviews
- Solve production and quality-related issues on GRP and sheet metal parts
- Troubleshooting of manufacturing issues and collaboration with suppliers and internal production teams
- Interface with the Rostock factory, sourcing, and quality teams to ensure robust component design and integration
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives for cost efficiency, product robustness, and process stability
YOUR PROFILE:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Strong knowledge of CAD and PLM tools, ideally Siemens NX and Teamcenter
- Desirable: experience in glass fiber-reinforced plastic (GRP) components and/or sheet metal parts
- General understanding of machining and manufacturing technologies
- Hands-on approach to solving production issues, paired with solid design knowledge
- Strong communication and collaboration skills – you can align across departments and cultures
- Independent and structured working style, with a focus on deadlines and deliverables
- Fluent in English (spoken and written); German is an asset
- Willingness to work on site in Rostock, with the possibility of occasional remote work and travelling abroad
YOUR BENEFITS:
In addition to the opportunity to make our world a little more sustainable, we offer you:
