Embedded Software Engineer – Safe Motion Control for Robotics
Your area of responsibility
You will expand the competencies within the maxon Group in the area of firmware development for safety-critical applications such as AGVs/AMRs, collaborative robots, and surgical robots. To realize such products, you will develop firmware to control and monitor the drive systems used, with a special focus on functional safety.

To realize such products, you will develop firmware to control and monitor the drive systems used, with a special focus on functional safety.
- Firmware development for the control and monitoring of electric drive systems for robotics and e-mobility, in compliance with applicable functional safety standards.
- Establish a toolchain for safe firmware development
- Integration of control and monitoring functionalities into an existing code base
- Programming of embedded microcontrollers in C/C++
- Close collaboration with hardware and system developers as well as external partners
- Testing, verification, and documentation of the developed firmware, especially with regard to functional safety requirements
- Supporting the certification of assemblies according to applicable standards
- Knowledge transfer within the maxon Group on the topic of functional safety
This job is exactly right for you if...
- Have a degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a similar field, or possess equivalent qualifications
- Have at least 3 years of professional experience in embedded software development according to functional safety standards
- Have solid practical experience in the architecture, design, development, testing, and integration of low-level software
- Are proficient with the necessary tools for developing safety-critical firmware
- Possess in-depth knowledge of the relevant functional safety standards (IEC 61508, ISO 13849)
- Work independently and responsibly and enjoy collaborating in dynamic, interdisciplinary project teams
- Communicate well in German or English (spoken and written)
- Are willing to work both in Zurich and Sachseln, OW (approximately 20% of the time)
