About the team:

Working closely with the Lead Architect in Technology & Architecture, the Working Student will join the Cross Architecture team and support mission critical and highly strategic projects that influence and impact not only our group but the whole engineering department. Having relevant development experience, you feel comfortable around tools like Git, development environments, documentation platforms, and project management tools.

You will be interfacing with different levels of stakeholders: from engineers in cross functional teams to technical leadership. Supporting communication efforts, documenting research findings, and contributing to project progress are skills that you are developing and feel comfortable expressing. You should also feel comfortable approaching and meeting new people – fostering healthy work relationships and building trust in order to support project success.

Your role will involve translating complex technical concepts into clear documentation, supporting prototype development, and helping bridge the gap between research findings and practical implementation across our engineering teams.

What you’ll do:

In this role, you’ll:

• Work directly with senior architects on enterprise-scale technology decisions.
• Present findings to technical leadership and influence technology roadmap planning.
• Experience the full lifecycle from research to prototype to organizational implementation
• Research and evaluate emerging enterprise technologies and frameworks in frontend and AI that will shape our architecture strategy for the next 3-5 years.
• Conduct competitive analysis and create detailed comparison documents that inform major technology investment decisions.
• Build proof-of-concept prototypes to validate new technological approaches before large-scale implementation.
• Support critical migration planning for modern web technologies and frameworks, directly impacting development teams across the organization.
• Support our AI program by maintaining and enhancing infrastructure that serves internal teams across multiple business units
• Develop new AI-powered features based on business requirements, directly improving developer productivity

Who you are:

You are a student (f/m/d) at a university or a university of applied sciences. We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, perseveres, and stays curious. You like to work on meaningful innovative projects and are energized by lifelong learning.

• Currently enrolled in a university program, preferably in a field related to Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related technical disciplines
• Strong proficiency in English; German language skills are a plus but not mandatory
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment

Must-Have Qualifications

• Solid foundation in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS
• Experience with at least one modern framework (React, Vue, Angular)
• Proficiency using AI tools in the development process (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar AI coding assistants)
• Demonstrated ability to quickly pick up new technologies and frameworks
• Strong analytical thinking and troubleshooting abilities

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Familiarity with SAP technologies, enterprise frameworks, or large-scale applications
• Foundation in Python
• Basic understanding of AI concepts, machine learning, or working with AI APIs
• Experience building proof-of-concepts or rapid prototypes

Your set of application documents should contain a cover letter, a resume in table form, school leaving certificates, certificate of enrollment, current university transcript of records, copies of any academic degrees already earned, and if available, references from former employers (including internships). Please also describe your experience and skills in foreign languages and computer programs / programming languages.

Note for Germany: currently the SAP Internship Experience Program is only open to interns and being hired into other contract types such as working students will preclude the candidate's participation in the program.
