PALFINGER is searching for a Sales Engineer to support our rapidly growing Defense Solutions division in Schaumburg, IL. This foundational role reports to the Sales Projects and Key Accounts Manager and plays a critical part in expanding our presence across North America. We're looking for a driven, team-oriented professional to bridge the gap between sales and engineering, ensuring our solutions meet both technical and operational demands.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop tailored solutions and system configurations that align with customer expectations during the proposal phase.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g. R&D, Procurement) to ensure the feasibility and accuracy of proposed solutions.
- Provide first-hand technical support to customers and internal stakeholders as needed.
- Build expertise in our product line (knuckle boom crane, Load Handling systems and Forklifts), delivering solutions tailored to customer needs.
- Track industry trends and competitor offerings to help shape sales strategies and product positioning. Participate in future product development projects.
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3–5 years of experience in a Sales Engineer or Technical Sales role, preferably in the industrial/heavy equipment or defense sector.
- Knowledge of truck upfitting, lifting solutions, or MIL-specs requirements is a strong plus.Experience with CAD tools preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
- Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally (approx. 15%, depending on project and project phase).
- This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. - 120.15 is required. "U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
