Offer Description

We are a young and dynamic Technical University located in the heart of the Lusatia region close to Berlin. We are dedicated to developing practice-oriented solutions to address major global challenges and transformation processes through scientific expertise.

The Faculty of Environmental and Natural Sciences is seeking to fill the following position in the Department of Molecular Cell Biology :

Food Scientist / Food Technologist (m/f/d) for the development of alternative proteins

The Institute of Biotechnology hosts several innovative biomedical research groups, a Fraunhofer project group, and additional flagship projects such as AVantiLT, a BMBF-funded initiative focused on developing novel anti-cancer drugs derived from microalgae.

Our research group at BTU has gained international visibility among decision-makers in the food industry, politics, and non-governmental organizations—primarily through our innovative approaches to developing sustainable and nutrient-rich foods.

For the EU-funded project BinAqua , we are looking for a highly motivated and qualified scientist to join our dynamic team and contribute to our mission of developing alternative protein sources for the nutrition of the future.

Requirements

Research Field: Other
Education Level: Master Degree or equivalent

Skills/Qualifications

Academic degree (Master, university diploma, or equivalent) in a relevant field such as food science, nutritional science, food technology, biosciences, biomedical sciences, life sciences, or a related discipline

Specific Requirements

At least one year of relevant professional experience in research institutions or industry
Experience in protein isolation from sources such as plants or microorganisms, as well as in enrichment techniques
Strong understanding of protein functionality and its application in food systems
Good command of both German and English, written and spoken
