The E2E Lead for the Growth Project will be responsible for the ADC expansion aspect of Lonza’s Drug Product (DP) Growth Project in Stein, Switzerland. The E2E Lead provides strategic leadership and governance across key functions, ensuring that project goals are aligned with market needs, Lonza’s DPS strategy, and profitability targets.

This role holds full end-to-end accountability for the lifecycle of the program, from concept and design through execution, qualification, and ramp-up, ensuring successful delivery of business outcomes and client satisfaction.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and champion the project expansion program in Stein, ensuring alignment and governance across key functions such as Operations, Engineering, Finance, Commercial, Sales, HR, Supply Chain, and Procurement.

  • Coordinate and guide the delivery of project outcomes on behalf of the Steering Committee, ensuring effective decision-making and communication, while establishing and maintaining governance systems and controls for risk management, cost, schedule, and change control; escalate critical issues as needed.

  • Ensure the project's alignment with Lonza’s market positioning, business strategy, and financial objectives, and justify the program accordingly from strategic and economic perspectives.

  • Develop and own the integrated project plan and execution strategy, working closely with the Global Engineering Project Delivery Lead and key stakeholders, while establishing the project charter and defining business requirements in partnership with Operations and Strategy.

  • Lead the development and presentation of the Capital Appropriation Request (CAR) in collaboration with key functions, ensuring cross-functional alignment on budget, resourcing, and feasibility.

  • Serve as the single point of accountability for the cost, scope, schedule, and outcomes of the program, empowered to make key decisions, manage cross-functional teams accordingly, and lead execution through a matrixed organization, including Operations, QA, MSAT, SCM, Engineering, and Finance.

  • Act as the primary liaison with external clients to ensure alignment, transparency, and efficient execution throughout the lifecycle of the program, and drive achievement of business case objectives, including initial revenue generation and long-term financial and performance targets.

Key requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering, or Pharmacology.

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in biotech or pharma, ideally across both Drug Substance and Drug Product, with a track record in Operations, Finance, and Commercial functions.

  • Proven ability to lead large-scale CAPEX projects and/or manage complex organizations (>200 FTE), demonstrating strong planning, prioritization, and execution in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.

  • Demonstrate effective leadership and role-model behaviors, including safety, quality, and EPS standards (e.g., 3-way communication, questioning attitude).

  • Strong commercial and strategic mindset, with deep understanding of CDMO market dynamics and suite-specific operational and technical expertise.

  • Skilled at navigating ambiguity, balancing risk, and translating long-term goals into actionable short-term plans aligned with business success.

  • Able to lead and align cross-functional, matrixed teams globally, with excellent collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and customer-facing capabilities.

  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills; able to engage across all organizational levels, manage multiple teams, and drive sound decision-making under complexity.
