The University Hospital of Tübingen is a leading center of German university medicine. Every year, around 75,000 inpatients and around 380,000 outpatients are treated. With over 11,000 employees, it is the largest employer in the region. The quality of patient care is certified with the KTQ seal of approval.
The Institute of Medical Genetics and Applied Genomics is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in the field of oncogenetics to start as soon as possible. The position is full-time, limited to two years.
The University Hospital of Tübingen is one of the leading university hospitals in Europe contributing to high-performance medicine, research and teaching. More than 10,000 cancer patients are treated every year at the local Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC), which consists of 14 different institutes, the Center for Personalized Medicine and the National Center for Tumor diseases Tübingen. As part of the CCC, the Institute of Medical Genetics and Applied Genomics focuses on the application of Next-Generation Sequencing for tumor genome and transcriptome analysis (available technologies include Illumina NovaSeq X Plus, Oxford Nanopore PromethION) and computational genomics methods. The oncogenetics group uses state-of-the-art tumor methods to analyze tumor profiles (whole exome and genome sequencing), monitor response to treatment (liquid biopsy), predict response to immunotherapy (single-cell RNA sequencing), classify tumor variants using clinical decision support systems, and analyze tumor heterogeneity and immune cell repertoire.
Tasks
- Conduct genomic and transcriptomic analyses with a focus on cell-free tumor DNA and tumor genetic profiling
- Apply state-of-the-art sequencing technologies (Illumina NovaSeq X Plus, Oxford Nanopore PromethION) in translational cancer research
- Develop and implement bioinformatic workflows for variant detection, therapy monitoring, and polygenic risk score analysis
- Collaborate within the EU project JA PCM and the DKTK project LeOPARD to drive innovation in personalized cancer medicine
- Present findings in interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to scientific publications
Profile
- PhD in molecular biology, genetics, bioinformatics, or a related field
- Strong background in NGS-based genomics and/or computational genomics
- Experience with cancer genomics, liquid biopsy, or immune profiling is an advantage
- Motivation to work in translational, collaborative research projects with clinical impact
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken
Benefits
- Work in the diverse environment of a modern university hospital, which, in addition to patient care, also focuses on medical research and teaching
- Future-proof job and location, as well as attractive compensation including a company pension plan (VBL), with the greatest possible flexibility in working hours
- Subsidies for public transport tickets and attractive discounts on our employee service platforms
- Structured onboarding phase, hospital-owned academy for developing professional, social, and methodological skills
- Preventive health care through a wide range of sports activities
