The Clinic for Anaesthesia, Intensive Care Medicine and Pain Therapy currently performs around 9,000 anaesthetics per year in six operating theatres and two procedure rooms in the specialist departments of Visceral Surgery, Foot Surgery, Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Spinal Surgery, Urology, Gynaecology and Obstetrics as well as Internal Medicine. A recovery room with 13 places is available for post-operative care.

We have full authorization for further training (60 months) in anaesthesia and for the additional qualification of intensive care medicine (24 months). As a teaching hospital of the University of Duisburg-Essen and as part of the Helios Group, we also offer the opportunity to get to know other clinics and departments as part of rotations.

Here, you can learn everything an anesthetist's heart desires in a collegial atmosphere with flat hierarchies, from simple anesthesia to all types of ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia and highly complex procedures. In our intensive care unit with 16 beds, all procedures of modern intensive care medicine are carried out without forgetting ethics and the patient's wishes. Inpatient and outpatient multimodal pain therapy is just as much a part of our portfolio as manning the emergency ambulance for the town of Velbert.
