In order to support our continued growth Lonza is seeking Bioprocess Engineers with a relevant background in Life Sciences and a passion for Biotechnology to join our talent community in Visp, Switzerland.
Key responsibilities:
As a Bioprocess engineer for Mammalian Cell Banking, you will manage operational activities for assigned manufacturing projects in Cell Banking area. You will act as a subject matter expert in manufacturing working in an interdisciplinary team of biotechnologists / scientists, lab technicians and specialists, as well as you will be accountable for the performance and results of assigned projects.
In cell banking you will be in the lead for preparation of master and working cell banks. This responsibility covers all process steps of mammalian cell banking from cell culture to filling including viability studies for clinical and commercial manufacturing projects as well as end of and post production Cell Banks.
Ensure that operational activities for clinical and/or commercial manufacturing are performed on-time and within given safety and quality standards
Act as the functional lead for preparation, manufacturing execution, cleaning and changeover in the assigned area
Lead of one or more defined USP areas (e.g. seed train, main cultivation or harvest) for the production of therapeutic proteins with either mammalian or microbial expressions systems (Bioprocess Engineer USP)
In charge of one or more defined DSP areas (e.g. gain, polishing or filling) for the purification of therapeutic proteins from either mammalian (Bioprocess Engineer DSP)
Key requirements:
Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry or related Life Science subject, or Bachelor’s holder with experience in pharma production
Knowledge in either USP (such as bioreactors) or DSP units (such as chromatography)
Couple of years working experience in biomanufacturing required
GMP experience and understanding of bioprocess technology
Excellent communication skills in English, good German skills of advantage
