What you’ll build

Join SAP’s ABAP Language team within the Business Technology Platform (BTP), where we advance SAP’s core programming language and runtime environment. As a developer, you’ll help evolve the ABAP compiler and virtual machine, applying modern computing techniques to improve performance, robustness, and developer experience.

You’ll be part of the ABAP Dynpro & Code Analysis team, which develops and maintains SAP’s classic UI technology used across core ERP systems. The team also builds static analysis tools like SLIN and CVA, ensuring code quality and security.

Your responsibilities include

• Enhancing the ABAP language and compiler by analyzing trends and integrating advanced computing techniques.
• Developing and maintaining Dynpro technology and ABAP quality tools.
• Leveraging generative AI to support tasks such as code explanation, translation, and static analysis.
• Empowering developers with advanced ABAP features and intelligent tooling.

You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and language designers, gaining deep insights into compiler technology, enterprise software, and emerging AI applications. Your contributions will help shape the future of SAP’s core technologies, used by millions of developers and businesses worldwide.

What you bring

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++, Rust, or ABAP.
• Experience or interest in compiler design, language development, or static analysis.
• Familiarity with enterprise software development and UI technologies is a plus.
• Analytical mindset, attention to detail, and a collaborative working style.
• Fluency in German and English.

The ABAP Language team develops the ABAP language, compiler, and runtime, central to SAP’s business applications. The Dynpro & Code Analysis team, part of this group, focuses on evolving Dynpro technology and ABAP quality tools.
