Strategic Sourcing Manager (Category Manager - Procurement) - DE - Westhausen
Job Summary
We are currently looking for a Strategic Sourcing Manager, Mechanical Components & Motors to support our Power Tools operations. In this role you will be responsible for the strategic management of our mechanical components and motors, and will sit at our Westhausen, Germany facility supporting our Sr. Category Manager, Components & Motors.
This position will drive productivity through supplier development and management, ensuring performance meets or exceeds our expectations for operations and will negotiate working capital improvements through sourcing activities including, but not limited to, best cost sourcing and supplier consolidation efforts.
In this role, the individual will work closely with other members of the Global Procurement organization, as well as counterparts in engineering, R&D, quality and operations to develop and execute strategies for the category responsible.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist leaders within the GPO function in developing, implementing and communicating the Procurement strategy to internal and external stakeholders as appropriate
• Work closely with operations on Make Vs. Buy and capacity management decisions to support the business both short and long-term
• Develop and implement the sourcing strategy and supplier relationship management policies and procedures for mechanical components and motors
• Oversee RFI and RFP contract development and review processes to utilize appropriate support tools to enhance sustainable continuous improvements and results
• Own the development of negotiation strategy, while also qualifying and certifying supplier programs
• Act as a functional subject matter expert to leaders throughout our organization
• Monitor, track and communicate performance management standards for category and supplier
• Work with Global Procurement team members and internal customers to ensure internal customer needs are met; develop and manage supplier based as needed
Critical Skills & Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (i.e., Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, Engineering)
• 2+ years' progressive experience in Procurement or Supply Chain area with exposure managing the procurement processes
• Experience in a low volume/high mix, made-to-order or assemble-to-order environments
• Experience in strategic planning and sourcing strategy formulation and implementation
• Experience in planning, analyzing and managing suppliers to ensure successful outcome
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of ERP systems; SAP experience is preferred
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office; Advanced Excel skills
• Ability to tailor strategies for commodities and assigned category based on understanding of supplier market, category spend, etc.
• Able to travel up to 10%
• Fluent in German and English
